6. I Remember One Rose

You lied, and said you didn't know
where the rose was from.
It was a joke.
Maybe I can't tell when
you're joking, but
I saw you buy the rose.

It was no lie that you
did not recall what
you professed to me
once before.
Child, your mind is full
of holes,
I do believe.

This inconstant regard
unsettles my spirit.
You don't want much of me;
or you do, maybe;
I can't tell when you're joking.

I remember one rose,
though I would not take it home.
What will you remember,
when I'm gone?
