Big Aloha

It's big aloha I have for you,
a love so large it shouldn't need
to be told each day.
A love so large it could let you be
until you need it, a love
as restful and as patient
as the sweet water deep in a well.

It's big aloha I have for you.
But I am a flawed vessel,
uncertain and insistent,
with a child's fear of
being abandoned;
desiring every moment to assure
and to be reassured.

It's big aloha I have for you,
as vast as the star-encrusted arch
of night over the ocean,
and in that vast large love
can I not teach myself to find
quiet?
